Every year from March until April the Chinese Egret embark on a near 3000 mile migration from the Philippines to China for their breeding season and this monumental time in their life was happening at the time I was painting this piece. It was the perfect time to capture these stunning blue loral and yellow beaked birds. With only several thousand left in our world, it is imperative that they successfully complete this journey. They rely on coastal landscapes for food and are unfortunately suffering from habitat loss, as such it is my hope to raise awareness with this piece. I hope to share my gratitude for our world by displaying this stunning show of grit and prosperity as these migratory birds cross over this Philippine seascape.
