Prior to the events of the famous novel "The Illiad", this painting depicts Eris, the Goddess of Discord presenting an apple to the Goddess befitting the title of "The Most Beautiful in Olympia". Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, blinded by vanity bicker and fight among themselves to claim the title. A quarrel that would eventually lead to the events of the Trojan war.
